Modern-Day Slavery

According to the Merriam-Webster's dictionary, Slavery is a submission to a dominating influence. That being said, I admit, I am a SLAVE.

I just turned 24 and with it came the realization that there is no such thing as Freedom. Freedom is an ideal that was created to give us the illusion that we are created equal and thus have no excuse to complain about our state of living because we're supposed to have the same opportunities as everyone else so we need to strive for excellence in any way... But the fact is, this freedom mumbo-jumbo is baloney! Not everyone believes we're equal. I don't believe we are.

People have become so selfish, so corrupt that freedom can't even exist. If I'm going to ask you, do you think you, as a degree holder, have the same opportunities as those who never got to finish school? Of course not! So you are going to look at yourself as someone in a higher state, thus the out-of-school youths, the undergraduates would be beneath you..
Say you turned out to be successful in your field, right, and these "low lifes" would work for you. They would be under your command, you have a jurisdiction over them.. If for nothing more than the 9 hours or so that they spend at work, they are your slaves.

I've come to know that it's a dog-eat-dog world out here. You have to embrace the hardships and surpass it in order to succeed. Welp, I haven't succeeded yet, Im still a slave. Im enslaved by technology -- I can't imagine life without these gadgets and automobiles and the Internet!! Im enslaved by money -- I know, I know, how shallow of me but can you imagine being broke?? Face it, we need money to buy clothes and food and travel.. We need money to live!! Money might not be able to buy happiness but it can buy everything else.. =) So since I need money, I need to work! And this is where all hell breaks loose.. If only I can earn money without working.. =(
