Fate vs. Destiny

Yesterday we had our first team building with the IPx family. "We" are Michelle, Lizzie, Sandy, Sam, Cherry, Jaycee, Josh, Dexter and I. It was nothing special, just went around SM... ate and watched a movie. But I had fun and it made me think a little. You see, Dexter and I were the only 2 people in the group who has seen Spiderman. And because of the rage Spiderman is, only one other movie is on show...Shooter -- which most of them hasn't even heard of. So Dexter suggested that we -- he and I -- play in Bibbo instead while they go and watch Spiderman. Hmm... nice suggestion.. it made my heart skip a beat but as much as I'd like to spend some "alone" time I had to decline. I guess I'm not so sure of myself after all. So with my charm and convincing powers, I had them go watch Shooter with us instead which turned out really fun.

Then I got home and got into thinking... he'll be on the night-shift next week. His shift ends an hour before my shift begins. Yesterday might very well be our last time together. I guess I'm really screwed. It made me think of fate and destiny. Could this be my fate or my destiny. What's the difference anyway?

So I pulled up the ever wise Merriam-Webster site and searched it out. Fate implies an inevitable and usually an adverse outcome while Destiny implies something foreordained and often suggests a great or noble course or end . Hmm, so could this be my fate but another destiny awaits or could this be my fate and destiny right here? I don't know. I'm not wise enough to answer it. But I know this, for that brief time together we really did have what that Samurai guy said.."good conversations". I guess I couldn't ask for more.
