A Rivederci

Ain't it funny how you like one thing in your life to the extent that it is worth almost anything? Football does that to me. It is worth every effort, every sacrifice, every pain... Yesterday I got to play football again. After weeks of zero football action I was more than excited to join the Cebu Beach Club Football (4 on 4) tournament. Just my luck, within 15 minutes of the game I got into an accident and got a 2-cm cut on my head which sadly ended my football action. But the fun didn't end there. Surely not coz we had a superb buffet for lunch and more scrumptious food for dinner. Hehe, as I said, it was worth it - every single moment of football was and will always be.

Just as I had one of the best days yesterday, today I had one of the worst. On my previous post I wished to lose one of my batchmates... Well be careful of what you wish for huh, coz he got laid off today. But the sad thing is he wasn't the only one. Sonny, one of the funniest people in the group had to go too. My initial reaction was shock. I never expected him or anyone to go - at least not this soon. Without prior warning, I lost a friend. He is a good person. After everything he had gone through in life, most of which I haven't thought possible for someone so young, I can say that he was one remarkable character. He made us laugh with his silliness and he always had a good thought to share. The batch surely is one notch sadder with his loss. How I wish we could've had a more proper farewell.

The day is bleak. My eyes are hurting from the tears I've shed. I was never good with sudden losses - the first one being the loss of my father. I just don't want to be caught by surprise and be forced to deal with the pain. To be left behind must be the most painful state. However life must go on. The sun will shine again tomorrow and the day after that and the pain will eventually become a dulling throb. After all, not all goodbyes mean the end, some are just preludes for more meaningful hellos. A Rivederci Sonny!
