Swine Flu Outbreak

Im proud to be a Filipino. We have a beautiful country and beautiful people. But there are times when I can't help but think otherwise. So I was bored at work and I thought of keeping up with the current events to I launched my browser and typed in cnn.com. Tada, I was exposed to the this article 'World battles swine flu as death toll rises'. It was a pretty entertaining one so I read on. Somewhere in the middle, this caught my full attention:

Governments around the world scrambled to prevent further outbreak.

Some, like China and Russia, banned pork imports from the United States and Mexico. Several others, such as Japan and Indonesia, used thermographic devices to test the temperature of passengers arriving from Mexico.

The Philippines' health department urged people to avoid kissing and hugging in public.

WTF! I was embarrassed to the point of hilarity. I laughed so hard, I probably disturbed my officemates who were already half asleep. But man, can the government be more ridiculous? No wonder no one takes us seriously. Oh my, Pilipinas kong Mahal, what will become of you?
